If you’ve been wondering if I had disappeared – here’s your answer!
I didnt go far, we were just in the process of migrating The Clearing Space Weblog to a new location, which took a little time and patience and meant an embargo on posting for a few days. Thanks for YOUR patience!
Of course, I didnt sit back and sip margaritas while I was in blog-limbo land. I’ve been busy developing a workshop with my pal Chris Owen (see my post from earlier this morning), and have various other developments in the pipeline.
I find life is beginning to speed up about now – the calendar is looking particularly full as the invitations and notices of functions pour in. G and I have been making a deliberate effort to not feel that we have to attend EVERYTHING, and have been selective indeed in our RSVPs this year. It’s not that we dont enjoy socialising with people, and catching up with old friends – we DO!
But there is such a thing as social overload, when we both run businesses, have three children to nurture, feed and spend time with, and trying to maintain our own sanity as well. Going out at night, especially on week nights when we are tired anyway, can be very taxing on our not-so-young-anymore bodies. (grins)
We use several selection criteria – like do we WANT to go to this? Do we ENJOY doing this? What would happen if we just sent our apologies this year? What is the best use of our time on this particular occasion? And this goes the same for entertaining WE do. Feel free to say no thanks, maybe in the New Year, if you receive an invite from us and cannot answer those questions positively! We really wont mind.
Are you being selective and deliberate in YOUR social commitments this holiday season?
