Have laptop, can work

May 19th, 2006 · 2 Comments

Working_girlI am far from a technology wizz (about as far as you can get, and still be able to utilise technology…)

But I do like the benefits of technology and how they make my days run smoothly.

Ever since I set up The Clearing Space a couple of years ago, I have been using the family computer.  A computer that is set up in the middle of the family/kitchen space so that we can keep an eye on children’s surfing and chatting and homework.

And with now two teenagers in the house, and one very technologically literate 8 year old, it was becoming increasingly difficult to gain access for my work!  Especially as I always granted right of access for school assignments and homework tasks.  (Not to mention the noise and distraction factor).

So, I have been saving and looking and dreaming about my very own laptop for it seems like ever.

Guess what???

I am sitting here on the couch in my family room with my feet up (sprained ankle – dont ask!) and my brand new laptop on my knees!!!

Now, even when Captain Scarlett and Georgeous Girl monopolise the family computer, I am free to work and can even move to a quiet place – a blissfully quiet place – to work unhindered.

Thank goodness for technology!

    Hey Karen,
Congratulations on your new lap top. I am jealous. I can’t wait to have my own. I never thought I’d want one because I thought they were clumsy to work on, but I’d get over that real quick given the convenience they allow you. I wish I had one to travel with this past year. I’m sure yours will bring us plenty of good blog posts to look forward to. Take care, Maryanne

Thanks for the comment Maryanne. I too, am looking forward to plenty of good blog posts! I can thoroughly recommend a laptop in terms of convenience, portability and possibility! I AM going to get myself a wireless mouse, though, and I find the little touchpad awkward to use, and not very good ergonomically.
